• Vehicle safety checks

Part 3 - First Run & Instructor Demonstration

• Candidate ability assessment
• Route - to include all types of road including motorway (where possible)
• Record of time taken, distance travelled, number of gear changes and fuel used
• Instructor demostration (optional)

Part 4 - Vehicle & Road Craft Instruction

• Discussion of faults highlighted during first run
• Best practice in safe and fuel efficient driving explained
• View 'fuel efficiency' video
• Discussion on safe and efficient driving techniques

Part 5 - Second Run

• Candidate to demonstrate techniques learned
• On-going input from instructor
• Route - to include all types of road including motorway (where possible)
• Record of time taken, distance travelled, number of gear changes and fuel used

Part 6 - Underpinning Knowledge & Assessment Summary

• Theory exercises
• Summary of day's events highlighting differences between the two runs
• Discussion os theory tests, knowledge gained and improvements in driving
• Discuss final grade and instructor's comments
• Target fuel consumption figure to be agreed
• Feedback, summary and award of certificate
