First Aid At Work - 1 Day and 4 Day Options

1 Day Course
The one day basic course is for those who require a First Aid At Work qualification.
This is a Health & Safety Executive approved course that complies with HSE (first aid) 1981 regulations - First Aid coverage in the workplace is a legal requirement.

Basic Course Content:

  • Duties and responsibilities
  • Legislation
  • Contents of a First Aid kit box
  • Mouth-to-mouth
  • CPR
  • Bandaging and slings
  • How to stop bleeding
  • Recovery position

Ratio: 6 trainees per instructor

4 Day Course
The four day advanced course is for those who require a First Aid At Work qualification.
This is a Health & Safety Executive approved course that complies with HSE (first aid) 1981 regulations - First Aid coverage in the workplace is a legal requirement.

  • What is First Aid
  • First Aid in the workplace
  • Responsibilities of a 'First Aider'
  • Primary assessment
  • Breathing and circulation
  • Principles of resuscitation
  • Disorders of respiration
  • Airway obstruction

Day 2

  • Disorders of circulation
  • Disorders of consciousness
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Incident management
  • CPR and EAV - Child and baby
  • Bites and stings

Day 3

  • Burns and scalds
  • Bone, joint and muscle injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Incident management 2
  • Foreign objects
  • Effects of heat and cold
  • Recap on resuscitation procedures

Day 4

  • Casualty management
  • Resuscitation procedures 2
  • Incident management 3
  • assessment

On-site Courses - Specific Areas of Risk

The following are examples of specialist areas which can be incorporated into an on-site training programme to accommodate one-off needs such as those required by an industry with specific areas of risk.

  • Airway management / Oxygen therapy
  • Head injuries
  • Anaphylaxis and epi pen training
  • Breaks and sprains
  • Chemicals and poisons

Ratio: Maximum of 6 trainees per instructor
