Lorry Mounted Crane (HIAB)
Designed for drivers of vehicles fitted with lorry mounted cranes.
Course Objective: The trainee will be expected to identify basic construction and components together with their uses, limitations and principles of operation. Understand the hydraulic system, operator duties and responsibilities.
Routine maintenance checks and slinging effective practical operation.
Course Content:
- Introduction to the course
- Health and safety at work act 1974
- The code of practice for lorry mounted cranes
- Basic operation and controls
- Setting up to lift and re-setting for travelling
- Pre-checks before operating
- Slinging and correct use of slings
- Safe working loads (SWL)
- Practical operations loading and unloading with crane using varying types of loads and conditions
Ratio: 3 trainees per instructor per truck.

- 1 Day Refresher for certificated operators
- 2 Day for novice operators
