Slinger/Banksman

Designed to provide candidates with theoretical and practical knowledge to safely lift loads using overhead and mobile cranes.

Course Objective: On completion of training, the trainee should be able to:

Pay attention to the relevant safety regulations
Inspect and select the correct lifting equipment for various loads
Accurately sling, lift, move and lower into position loads of various weights and shape

Course Content:

Slingers responsibilities under the health and Safety act 1974
Inspection and selection of lifting equipment and the sections of the factories act 1961 relating to lifting equipment
Safety regulations applicable to the use of cranes and slings
Safety requirements for the use of lifting equipment
Advantages and disadvantages of various lifting techniques
Inspection requirements for lifting equipment

Duration: 1 to 3 Days dependent on experience

Ratio: Maximum of 6 trainees per Instructor per crane
